On January 12, 2010, Haiti was devastated by one of the most deadly natural disasters of our time. Known as "the catastrophe" amongst Haitians, the 7.3 earthquake killed some 250,000-300,000 people, leveled most of the severely overcrowded capital city, Port-au-Prince, and left at least 1.3 million persons homeless.
